Using Slate Tiles in the Home

Slate tiles are a great addition for flooring in the kitchen and bathroom areas and there are many advantages to slate flooring. Slate tiles are known for being extremely durable which is what makes them a popular Tile for the kitchen area that has a lot of traffic.  Slate Tiles will also not absorb water or any other liquid and stains and dirt on the floor are not obviously noticed as much as lighter Tiles because of their colour.

Slate tiles come in various shades and different designs and will add elegance and a rustic feel to any home, They can also be used in the bathroom for much the same reason, that they are non absorbent tiles and are very durable.

Slate tiles also come in different styles and one way to make a real design statement is to use a uniformed colour but Multi sized tiles, this will add real design and is especially effective in large areas like the kitchen.  Slate Tiles come in different shades and although it is more common to have a uniformed colour throughout, you can mix and match colours to make the room a little different and interesting.  Matching your flooring shades to the countertop cupboards in the kitchen will also give your kitchen a natural flow.

Slate Tiles are also often used as Tile backsplashes in the kitchen, again mainly because they are non porous, heat resistant, fireproof and very strong. Backsplash areas are an area where there is moisture and slate is easy to clean and will not absorb water. Real earthy tones can be used on the kitchen backsplash area and matching the shades to the floor will give your kitchen a sophisticated look and feel.  Choosing creatively doesn't mean you have to use the same colours on your backsplash and smaller tiles are often used in this area.

Slate Tiles are also great for bathroom floors but the tiles will need to be sealed, again a uniformed colour can be used along with multi sized tiles to give real design and style. Slate tiles also come in various decorative styles and you can use real decorative designs on the walls and floors if you want to be a little adventurous.

Slate tiles are a wonderful addition to every home and are often used in hallways as well as bathroom and kitchens. Slate tiles are also used outside of the home for patios and they bring a real earthy feel to every home as well as giving off a warm and welcoming atmosphere to any room.
